Tafjord I is a hydropower plant located in Tafjordbygda, in Norway. It utilizes the 152m fall from the regulation reservoir in Onilsavatn lake down to the fjord in order to produce power. The renovated plant, which started producing electricity in 1989, was built as replacement for the original Tafjord I, which dates back to 1923. From this time to 1952, the original Tafjord I supplied electricity to Ålesund and the surrounding area. Thanks to two Francis turbines with a combined installed capacity of 50 MW, the plant produces now 72 GWh of electricity per year.
