The Smoky Hills Wind Farm is a wind-powered electric generation facility located approximately 20 miles west of Salina, Kansas. At the time of the completion of Phase I in 2008, the Smoky Hills Wind Farm was the largest wind farm of its kind in Kansas with more than 100 landowners and 20,000 acres of land involved in the project. Phase II increased the installed capacity to nearly 250 MW, which means that the wind farm produces enough electricity annually to power 85 000 households.
