Long-term sustainability target

52% renewable energy by 2030

Morocco has one of the highest rates of insolation globally (between 3,000 and 3,600 hours per year). An ambitious energy plan targeting 42% of renewable installed capacity by 2020 has been a key driver in the expansion of renewables – between 2009 and 2020, solar capacity increased 16-fold. Morocco also boasts one of the world’s largest concentrated solar power plants, the Noor-Ouarzazate complex (580 MW). Morocco’s next target is 52% renewable energy by 2030.
