The wind turbine Mika is located on the Kökar island in the Åland archipelago in Finland. It was installed in 1997 and has a yearly production of 1.3 GWh of clean electricity. The small island of Mika has only 234 residents, who consumed 2.9 GWh of electricity in 2017. This means that the Mika turbine alone has the capacity to fulfil almost half of the island’s electricity needs.
