95% of China’s 278 GW of wind capacity has been installed since 2010, with a notable increase in recent years; 70 GW were added in 2020 alone. Close to 2 TWh were produced by wind capacity in 2022. Nevertheless, electricity generated from fossil fuels retains the largest share of energy generation (over 80% in 2022), with renewables making up less than 20% and wind making up about 5%.
