EWOS has been working to reduce emissions in their own operations and across the value chain, working in collaboration with salmon farmers and suppliers.
To this end, EWOS has made a 5-year commitment to purchasing unbundled GOs in order to source renewable electricity in Norway.
In a bid to reduce emissions across the value chain, they have also launched the SeaFurther™ Sustainability Program, to reduce the footprint associated to their customers’ farmed seafood by 30% by 2030, and ultimately help seafood farmers achieve net-zero emissions.
The production of renewable electricity is certified by Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs). These are the accepted legal instrument through which claims of renewable energy generation and consumption are substantiated in the global renewable energy market. There are different types of EAC for different regions of the world, and they are all in compliance with the quality criteria set by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol in the latest Scope 2 guidance document.
