Carbon disclosure project (CDP)

The carbon disclosure project helps companies throughout the world to measure, manage, disclose and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

The system allows investors, companies, cities states and regions to manage their environmental impacts. All climate change data is gathered and self-reported by organizations and provided to the marketplace to increase transparency. More than 5600 companies and 533 cities globally has provided data into the system. This has been an important tool to increase corporate awareness of effective carbon management and climate change risks. Currently, one-fifth of global carbon emissions reported by companies globally are managed and disclosed by the CDP. The carbon disclosure and climate action by companies ensures long-term sustainability and profitability as the regulatory framework is changing towards a low carbon economy. More than 1200 companies plans or currently practice a price of their carbon emission as an approach to manage carbon risks and develop business strategies.
