The power plant is located on the river Harmångersån in Hudiksvall municipality, Gävleborgs county, Sweden. It was built in 1908 and has three Francis turbines. Estimated annual production is 8.6 GWh.
Alfta power plant has strong roots in the Malvik area of central Sweden, providing both renewable energy and employment since the year 1945. It is located on the Ljusnan river which has its outspring in the mountains northwest of Ramundberget on the Norwegian border.
